FBCO Ministry Updates:

Clothing Ministry – FBCO is excited to announce that on July 13, we will become the clothing distribution center for Christian County! Least of These has made the determination to focus strictly on food and other food-related resources for the residents of Christian County. Least of These has moved all of their clothing, racks, hangers, etc. to help us get started. This will be in addition to our annual Day of Giving event that will still take place on August 15. This is an exciting opportunity for FBCO to reach more in our community with open arms of love, prayer, and an opportunity to share the gospel. We will be having people in our county here on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8A to 1P. Visit our website at fbcozark.org/missions to find out more about ways you can be involved.

FBCO Clothing Donations Resume – The clothing ministry team is now ready to accept clothing donations once again. Please drop-off your clothing donations in the collection tubs located inside the West Door entrance area.

Operation Christmas Child – We are starting to pack shoeboxes in small groups. To help, call Pam Gardner (839-0150) to sign up. Shoeboxes can be packed at home and they will be available in the Commons beginning June 14. Please fill them and return the shoeboxes by July 30. In June, we are collecting clothes for boys and girls: sizes 4-14 plus empty regular-sized shoeboxes, coloring books and pencil sharpeners (Imagine brand from Dollar General). Any other items you may have collected can be dropped off in the Operation Christmas Child tubs in the Commons & West door entrance.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Needs Host Families – The Queen City Crush, an affiliate of FCA, is looking for host families to house players this summer. They have asked for help in finding host homes. Below are the details of who they are and what exactly they are needing.

Queen City Crush is searching for safe Christian home environments for college age baseball players. They are asking families to provide room and board for players for the months of June and July. FCA recruits current college baseball players from across the country to come to Springfield as “baseball missionaries”. Baseball players come from around Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Arizona, California, Virginia, and even Hawaii. While playing an MLB style schedule throughout June and July, players are involved in weekly team Bible Studies, pre-game chapels, community service outreach, and engaging with local churches. It is a time for these young men to intentionally grow in their relationship with Christ.

Due to COVID-19, we have had some of our Host Families let me know that they are no longer able to host a player for this summer. Interestingly, none of them backed out due to health concerns. They were all due to their spare rooms now being occupied by kids/family that have been out of work or sent home from college. Because of these changes, we are now TWO families short. Would you be interested in hosting Crush players?

Curious about what it is like to be a host family during the summer? Check out one of our current host families share about their experience. You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXoxjLlNEsA&t=1s

**In order to cut down on travel, we typically only allow host families within a 20-25 minute radius from our FCA office in Springfield because of the Bible studies and things that we do at the office.** If you are interested, Please contact Cody Pentecost (cpentecost@fca.org) or call 417.230.5810

Grass Mowing Team – is needing Volunteers to serve on rotating teams to cut the church’s lawn. Contact Jeff Garrison if you are able to serve.

Bible Studies for Life Sunday School Quarterlies – Summer quarterlies are available for pick-up in the Commons as you leave Sunday, May 24 & May 31. This is ONLY for our BSFL Sunday School Classes.

FBCO Call To Prayer – Pastor Phillip Burden has called on all of us Sunday & Wednesday nights, at 7:00pm – to pray. Prayer guide (click here). At your home, as you and your family, gather in living rooms, or around kitchen tables, all FBCO brothers and sisters in Christ, are asked to petition the Lord to, “heal our land and world.” Will you join us in prayer?

No One Alone (NOA) Ministry – do you know of anyone, “the most vulnerable,” of our community during this time of pandemic and isolation, that needs help? Are you in need? Do you know a member or regular FBCO attender that would appreciate a daily phone call to check up on health and physical needs (food, paper goods, etc)?  Call (417) 581-2484 to add them to our list.
